A is for Arteology

David and Lesley Turner have extended the viewing in the North of my Sylvia Plath paintings by putting on a show of my work in their contemporary art space at Arteology, Colne.

The prieview went with a bang or should I say Punch as that's exactly what we were serving, in Sylvia's honour ( a slight twist on a Boston Cooler) with a few added secret ingredients making a sparklingly brilliant and original broth the Plath Punch!

We sent some shivers around the gallery as Sylvia's voice recited "Daddy" composing the mind and awakening the senses and hopefully this sharpened the viewing. A great time was had, and this show is now on til 10th Aug..... so pop along!

Pics below and it's too hot in this attic to do more. Ta ta

Slap Happy

How Much is too much? Well to be clear on the matter- too much lipstick ruins kisses, but when it comes down to it for a night at the Chelsea Arts club, well, the whole joy of make-up is too much make-up, so check me out with those cat in the Hat big party eyes.

On top of the panstick went powder, on top of powder went eye shadow, on top of eye shadow went lashes, on top of lashes went liner, then mascara, feathers, a hard crust of glittering stones, and finally a sweeping moustache, a slash as brash as a monkeys dash.

More pics to follow from the do.....

Below the Arts club as I arrived for the Heroes and Villains do, and a total of £40,131 was raised and the evening was a great sucess!

Gosh I've only been home a week and I go again in two days, busy busy.

In the mean time, have a look at this: Coming to the Mill on the weekend of the 27/28th July is a one man show about living far away from home, using animation, storytelling and spoken word, so get your tickets booked!

Box office:  07906 009084       £6...........If you haven't heard of Fergus Evans, you soon will!

And now for food for thought, below, it's sooo true!
Sent to me from my super new friend Mike at the club.

A Hospital of Dolls

The show went up without a hitch I am thankful to say, although the charcoal scribbles of chosen parts of Sylvia's poems to go along side the works were a pain to go on but they had the desired effect.

Watch the video

So as you can see, Sylvia took over with the recital of "Daddy" and it all came together, everyone got some kind of chill!

Quickly doing the press shot before anyone came in, above.

Don't mind if I do, below

Sandra and I worked the room!

Thanks to all that came. x Even those that thought it started at 2pm

Vic, me and Cath up to no good at the end.

After party...

PUB with the ladies in red, must be a Witchee thing!

The ARK

The weather was divine last Saturday not spits and spots of rain like today, so Montee and me decided to have a lovely walk. We heard about this mysterious floating sculpture with a cinema and beautiful Islamic art designs inside, not far from our little village, we set off on a mini adventure along the Leeds and Liverpool canal and popped on to have a look.

It was most exciting wondering when it would be in view and as we turned the last corner there it was in all it's glory. I could just about hear some kind of sound that brought us near and then it was clear it was an Ark with a house like structure, with a real grass roof!

Montee and I enjoying the video work, something happened inside though, there was such a mix of relief and excitement, I got goose bumps and a funny feeling all over, this had nothing to do with the hot weather and all the sparkley water we'd had on our wander?

A snapshot of the artist Beth Derbyshire (idea and design for the Ark) and Laura Rogers before the Ark was on its way to be packed down until used again?

WALL CHANGE!

Hello yes we've had good news on the venue front, Vic Allen from the Dean Clough gallery heard my sad news (Sylvia won't be exhibited in Heptonstall church) and has found me a slot in the gallery HURRAH!

Me...laughing my head off at that Vicar!

My new works will go on display this July and that's great news as I have just one more to do but believe me it will be a big bugger so no dout it'll take me from now till then, well, to get it dry and all.

So I probably should be concentrating on my new small canvas for the Chelsea Arts Club annual charity do which has to be sent no later than Saturday (it is so close to be finished), but I've a new frock to wear  (before going camping this Saturday) for the super new coffee shop/Wine bar The Green Chimney, Colne, it will be the biggest brightest Artist hang out this coming Friday as I'm the birthday girl and that's the hot spot for the celebrations, come along if you know me, more the merrier and merry we shall be!

Sneek Peek....a detail from a new piece of work for the new show.
