Pie Oh Pie

In a world where all food seems to be fast and dull such as Big tac with cheese and I'll have a wotsit thingee sub? That kind of lunch is for wimps! Refreshing to see the revival of the pie yesterday in Higherford Mill! With  complements of Karen on the left here in vibrant turquoise.

The room went pop with energy as she came through with the velvety masterpiece, but you see it was "cake Friday" so the table is always full enough to give any artist Big eyes!

Rog came up trumps bringing in the most sophisticated pleasure to add to the menu

Personally, I've come to the end of a slow cooked canvas so this pie so round and satisfying to the mouth and then a coffee and cake round up was just the mini celebration one needed.

No Hat, a no go!

I regret to say I am still without a Hat, that is a hat image from the party over a week ago. Peeps in places have found this a challenge so we wait, and I'll come back to it! Although it's no coincidence that when I was there A great time was had and my Easter hat and choc eggs went down a treat!

DEAN CLOUGH

In a months time the charming Dean Clough Galleries will be hosting my solo show in the Seminar Gallery space of resent works. I went along yesterday with my friend John B, to meet the curator Vic Allen and also to catch up with lovely Doug (Binder)

Vic made an entrance with a kind of tap dancing do and I new right then that we would be friends!

Doug was on good form as you can see from my face and it was great to see the John and Doug catch up, they go way back

We had a great day and of course fit in a spot of tea and cake, so take a trip out and visit the gallery there are all sorts of treasures to be seen or make a date for the 26th May for my preview,times to be confirmed. Below to old gimmers (there words not mine!)

What's A foot!

I've been working on a couple of things this week but also visited John Baldwin in his new studio in Lancaster before going to see Jacqui Wilson at the Dukes about plans for my show there in June!

John was on good form (as always) and the new work is looking great! Can you believe the view from his studio window, it's only the Castle doors!

Jacqui was such a lovely person and we all had a cuppa in the Dukes bar and got excited about the second show of the Witch Trials tour "A Pendle Investigation"

I've been going a tad mad this week as my painting just wasn't just to plan, this is what occurs when one is away from the studio and has her mind on other things Arrrr

I've been putting together a Easter hat for the Hat party at the club next week, thought I'd go for bird in a nest, but then you start thinking about extras like, you know, pipe, glasses and could I maybe attach? So my new friend Sam from the club sent me the top of a bird cage and a super little bird, so you know they have to go in, below beginning of hat.

I go for a photo shoot before the party and I'm to meet my new PR man so the finnished item hopefully will be a hit.

London Salon Show

It's all been a bit to exciting at the moment, it was my first exposure in London, Sandra and Simon organised a super Salon gallery event at her place and Simon's canape extravaganza was amazing!

I felt kind of floaty as the people arrived but my nerves were washed away as I settled into conversation.
One gave out certain information about ones work, lots of connections were made on the night and the overall impression of the show was powerful and bursting with energy!

I was quite surprised that I new a lot of folk which also helped me to work the room,

We finished of the evening at the Chelsea Arts club and we are now planning another!

Last weeks London trip

I have got to own up that I was a bit nervous about going to London last week as I was to be on Jenny Runacre's radio show, I was going over and over in my head what she would ask me and kept getting in a muddle. But you know she was a delight and Sandra and I had a lovely time and between us I think we put across what my work was about. Below with Jenny looking like the Witches of Eastwick.

Before all that, Sandra met me at the Tate (as she was doing a tour) and let me into the Kusama show as she knew I would enjoy it, funny as I've always enjoyed her work starting from the 60's happenings on Alice in Wonderland and also want to be her, now I don't mean live in a mental hospital (as she now does) but just be as fabulous in the outfit and hair department.

This lady now in her 80's is mad on dots her work always suggests a surreal quality creating a dreamlike world, from fabric phalli shoes to boats and the list goes on to pasta covered suitcases, enough to make you dotty!

I wandered around the show and was told no photography, but when I walked in the Alice style living room I couldn't help myself, I had to take a quick shot of the table although the flash took away the darkness, but it was better than me taking a seat as it was sooo tempting!

The end of the week was spent in East Sussex at the Desmond's house sorting my work for my first show in Londow next week.

The Body Clothed In Art

I had a wonderful time at the Chelsea Arts club last week, the Body Clothed in Art fashion show and auction went down a storm! Sandra Higgins had worked her socks off for this event but as you can see her work paid off!

So on with the show!
Ella looked amazing and wowed the crowd with her good looks and wit

Sir Bob having fun at the front, infact I went in for the hard sell later and told him to have a feel of the dashing velvet coat I had on, he laughed but didn't perr chace...but it was a fashion frenzy at that time so I think he just missed out!

The fashion show ended in style with Sandra in the top hat.

It was brilliant and with the auction of the small canvas' too, the evening raised a fantastic £40K
